I really do love that Stampin Up Square Lattice emboss folder. So I'm going to show yet another card using it. This one is an A2 size card made at a recent class held by my SU upline, Stacie. The original designer was someone else, I believe.
I changed it just a little bit by adding another layer in SU Wisteria Wonder cardstock as the card base instead of the lattice layer itself. This card uses a masking technique by using a circle punched 'moon'. The sponging is 3 colors, starting with the lightest color first. Use a light hand when sponging -- you can always go back and add more. Stamp the 'birds in tree' twice in black, slightly overlapping, then put down the 'moon' mask, then sponge. Also had a slight masked line running along top and bottom. One last note, the 'thinking of you' was stamped first in SU Elegant Eggplant before running through the emboss folder. Amazingly, the words didn't get distorted by the lattice design.
Cardstock: SU Natural White, Wisteria Wonder, Not Quite Navy, Elegant Eggplant
Inks: SU Basic Black, Wisteria Wonder, Not Quite Navy, Elegant Eggplant
Stamps: SU Serene Silhouettes, SU Curly Cute
Die Machine: SU Square Lattice emboss folder
Other: temporary tape, paper, circle punch, craft sponge

Fall Leaves Card for OWH
Last Saturday (8/25/12), I attended an Operation Write Home card making event with their goal of having at least 500 cards made and ready to be shipped to our soldiers all over the globe. This wonderful organization, OWH sends good quality A2 sized hand crafted cards that are blank inside, complete with envelopes, so that the soldiers who serve our country can write home to their loved ones. The cards are made by cardmakers/stampers all over the country. Click on the OWH widget on the left sidebar to check out the site for more info. It's facinating to see how it all works!
I traveled with my two Thursday Craft Night pals, Cherie and Jill, to make a day of it helping to meet their goal. And did we? You betcha! And then some, for a grand total of 755 cards! Special thanks go to Nancy, who along with a few of her long time friends put the event together. This was their first event and they did a fantastic job! Looking forward to the next one. See Nancy's blog for more details about it : http://stampstramps.blogspot.com/
Another positive outcome of the event is that Cherie, Jill, and I decided that we would each make one card a week for OWH, share at our weekly get together, and then mail them all at the end of each month.
Cardstock: SU chocolate chip, garden green, retired SU baroque burgundy, other
Ink: SU chocolate chip, garden green, retired baroque burgundy
Stamps: SU Wonderfall, Retired SU - unsure of set name for sentiment
Die Machine: SU Autumn Accents Bigz die, SU square lattice emboss folder, SB labels#10 die
Other: EK oval punch, green brads

Below is the card that I made for this week. I've just recently learned that this technique is called "inlaid embossing". The leaves are actually stamped die cuts that were glued to the deep yellow cardstock, which was then placed into the wonderful SU square lattice emboss folder. It actually makes it look embedded or quilted. Really cool looking in real life! The result was then attached to an ivory cardstock base and finished off with a miss you stamped label. Miss You is one of the frequently requested sentiments to go on the front of the soldier cards.

Thank You Cards
I promised myself that I would post at least one card to my blog before the end of the day. It's getting late, but here it is! This is an A2 sized Thank You card that I made as part of a selection of cards to have on hand for my daughter, Lisa. The color of the blue is prettier with the soft suede in real life -- more blue/green in tone. Just couldn't capture it with the camera. Oh well.
Cardstock: Stampin Up Natural White, Soft Suede, Island Indigo
Ink: SU Soft Suede
Stamps: SU Perfectly Penned
Die Machine: SpellBinder Labels#11, SB Fancy Tags, Dot emboss folder
Other: SU large pearls

Below is another A2 sized Thank You card for Lisa. This time I made 10 of them for her to have on hand to use for follow up after interviews this Fall. This one is a 'case' from a class held by my SU upline. Thanks, Stacie! I changed it a bit with a light base layer added, and some shape changes by using an SU retired ticket corner punch and also a Spellbinder Label die. The flower's blue color is made using a sponge dauber lightly pressed in center, then lightly sponged to the edges. For those of you who are new to stamping/cardmaking the word 'case' used above means 'copy and share everything'. Someone came up with the term to describe when you like someone's card so much you've just got to make one yourself!
Cardstock: SU Natural White, Not Quite Navy, Baja Breeze, Island Indigo
Ink: SU Basic Black, Island Indigo
Stamps: SU Faith in Nature, SU Day of Gratitude
Die Machine: SB Labels#8, SU Square Lattice emboss folder
Other: SU pearl, mini brads, SU 5/8" organza ribbon, SU sponge dauber, SU ticket corner punch
That's it for now. I managed to figure out how to upload my first pictures, so future posts should be a bit easier to do. Another hurdle crossed. LOL Thanks for looking!

Hello
Welcome to the beginning of my blog! I love all things to do with paper. I've been papercrafting for many, many years and finally have gotten the courage to share my creations. I hope you will return to visit from time to time to see what I post. Hopefully my sharing will inspire you to create too. Crafting is very relaxing, a wonderful stress reliever. Try it!
